DIY Edible Sand-Dough

sandless sand playdough 009

Hot cocoa, football, sweaters, lots of layers, snow, Christmas music, and so much more comes with the winter season! And though you can always curl up next to the fire with a good book, a little reminder of summer is always nice. Keep the kids entertained by bringing a little beach into the home!

This recipe for play dough reminds you of the gritty sandy beaches and is great because guess what! It’s edible! It won’t taste very good but because it contains no sand or harmful chemicals, it is safe for kids to accidentally have a taste. :)

Want to make some?  This is what you need:

  • 1/4 c. water + 1 tbs.
  • 2 tbs. oil
  • 1 c. corn meal
  • 3/8 c. of salt (which is half of 3/4)
  • 1/4 c. flour + some if needed

Place the water and oil into a bowl and then add in all of your dry ingredients.

Mix well.

If it is still too liquidy, sprinkle some flour on top and knead. If it is too dry, add about a half tablespoon of water at a time. Do this until you achieve the desired consistency.

This sandless sand-dough will keep in an airtight container or plastic baggie.

And for some extra fun, add in some seashells!
