DIY Sewing Machine Pincushion

DIY sewing machine pincushionThis pincushion is super easy to make and you will thank yourself when you finish making it!

I used to always lose track of my old tomato pincushion.

It would be behind my sewing machine

It fell on the floor

I couldn’t get a pin out of it

It was frankly, just hard to use!

{You are probably thinking: how can a ball of fluff be hard to use? But it is!}

So the alternative, is having a pincushion that is strapped securely to your sewing machine.

It is easy to use,

Easy to find,

Easy to pull pins out of,

And is just plain EASY to DIY!

1. Cut 2 pieces of fabric each: 2 1/4” x 4”

2. Measure out a piece of elastic. Do this by stretching a piece where your pincushion will be. You need to stretch it tight so when you put the whole pincushion together, it won’t sag.

3. Attach the elastic to the right side of one piece of fabric. Attach to the two short sides. Make sure it is not twisted when you sew it in place…You may want to pin it.

4. Put both pieces of fabric right sides together like a sandwich. You want to make sure your elastic is out of the way, so I pinned all of mine in the middle with a safety pin.

5. Sew all the way around the sandwich.

Notice the two pins on the top. This is going to be the opening so I can fill my pincushion later. I am NOT going to sew this area!
