52 Weeks of Happy {week 44}

Do me a favor…
Go outside. Don’t worry, I’ll wait right here.

You done? Did you feel the breeze, smell the air?
Yep…It’s fall!

September 23rd (Tuesday) was officially the first day of fall. (I know because Google told me!) Cannot believe how the year has zipped by! It has been really fun taking the 52 weeks of Happy challenge and has shown me all kinds of things.

TM Flyer 2014

Though I am not ready for cold weather quite yet, fall makes me so happy because it is the season I st

art doing craft fairs. I absolutely love doing craft fairs and am already signed up for one in October. Cannot wait!

Happy Day 104

Fall is the time for picnics, and playing football!

Oh yes…and Frisbee golf! My little brother and I have discovered Frisbee golf about a mile away from our house. It is surprisingly fun to throw a Frisbee into a metal basket. We are terrible, but still love having fun! : )

52 Weeks of Happy {Week 40}

The big “four O” Only 12 more weeks to go! I can’t believe how this year has zipped by!
This also means it is only about 12 weeks till the next Thanksgiving.
Woah!
That puts it into perspective!

This week has been crAzy!

Summer 52 Weeks of Happy __ May-August 22nd

So I admit it! I have had a great summer! Full of beaches, books, music, pools, my beautiful blazing sun, towels, golfing, golf carting, friends over, swimming, exercise, kayaking, fishing, no school!, eating out…the works!
It will all come to a close around the middle of August but it sure has been FUN!
I did not want my blog here to be a chore, so I put it off for the summer, trying to focus on what I love more than anything…Quilting and having fun.
I have three quilts I need to finish by August.

One zebra and doggie fabric dog quilt
Another one of those with alternate color placement
and another around the world quilt that looks like the one I did for the fair.

School starts in a little over a month, and college starts on August 25th.
But it is all good because……..

This year I am a senior! (In High school)

And I’m loving it! :)
This will be my last year to do a lot of things, but also a year with new open doors.
I am so thankful for this amazing opportunity to blog along with you and so thankful for my parents who have helped me reach this point.
I hope to still continue to blog, and quilt, and run an online store as the year continues.

So with all of this said, I will close with…
“I have had a fantastic 2014 Summer”

Thanks all!

“52 Weeks of Happy” {Week 21, 22, 23, 24} a little behind

I woke up today with the sun in my face, my radio playing a song I liked, and everything was good good good!

I haven’t blogged in a while because I’ve been busy with school and such, but that will all soon change. College finals are now behind me and all the rest of my school is done.

*Oh Summer, I hope you always stay close by*

The summer breeze is beautiful and the sun’s wonderful kisses are too. = )

Everything about the warmth makes me all googly inside. (Does the word googly fit here? Ah well…)

We sent off the first two quilts for Sew Loving! Hoping and Praying they go to the right kiddo!

Mother's Day 2014 070Mother's Day 2014 077Sunday, me and my BEST BUD aka: My mamma! Trekked to Galveston on Mother’s day to see the Historical home tour. Pretty incredible! The oldest home we visited was from about 1870, and not only survived IKE, but also has been refurbished and now looks absolutely G R A N D. Also, when IKE took out a lot of the oak trees, these guys went around and sculpted these amazing…well… sculptures…  You can’t tell they are trees anymore! The pictures are above. The Great Dane, The Egret, and the totally awesome, one of a kind, ‘Bird Tree’.

Brunch with the gals!

Mother’s day brunch was DEEElicious! Me, my mom, my Grammie, and my Aunt, and her Mom (Lots of M’s in that statement) had brunch at the Mayflower bakery & Cafe.

Went shopping for little brother’s bed spread. It needed to be perfect, so we went to the mall. Of course, when you go to the mall, it’s customary to take a wrong turn, go up a strange set of stairs, and end up in an executive office, sneak by the receptionist and pop out in the food court. Weird…

Oops, took a wrong *COUGH right! COUGH* turn into the Godiva store. Got a massive chocolate macaroon and munched on it in the Pottery Barn Store. YUM!

WP_20140429_001 The weather was pleasant this week, so we went out to the pond and caught a wee little turtle. No one worry, we released him back into the wild. There are hundreds of them around this time of year. They are all so cute and are all this small.

Making some new items for the shop! Fox tails and ears. Still working on them and waiting for a sunny day to take pictures.

I entered the 4H fair and rodeo this weekend. If you have been keeping up with this blog, you know all about my quilt journey! =) I dropped it off on Saturday at 8:00 AM. We then went over to a party in the park where we ate craw-fish and played basketball and horseshoes. At 2:20 in the afternoon, I was expected back at the fair to see if I made the top ten.

Guess what!?

I made top ten! My heart leaped when I saw my name written on the poster board in the huge auditorium. Excitement rushed through my body!

I was then to come back in one hour for interviews. This was my first year to do this, so I had no idea what to expect. {I also had no idea I was going to be interviewed} So, 4:00 o’clock rolled around, and there I was…being interviewed by three judges. They asked me all sorts of questions. How long it took me. Where did you get the idea. Have you used the colors before. etc… {At the end, they told me I should be the fair queen, because I was so beautiful} = )

It was really fun!

That night we were back in the auditorium awaiting results. They called the winners of fourth, third, second, and first.

None were my name. I was disappointed, but found out later I was 5th place! What a victory! Out of 1,600 entries, I WAS 5th!

Awesomeness!

So there you have it. Perseverance and love for a hobby can take you places.

But that’s not quite the end of my story: The quilt was one place away from going to the live auction, but on Tuesday I picked up my quilt with a note attached saying she would love to buy my quilt.

*Sigh of satisfaction*

“I love quilting!”

We also went to go see a movie this week: “God’s Not Dead”

DUDE! That movie was Awesome! Even if you are not into that sort of thing, this is still a must see. Suspense. Drama. Emotion. Music. Willie and Kori Robertson. Newsboys. Just Greatness.

And of course, what’s a movie theater without Coke* and homemade pretzels?

Glad you asked, I’ll tell you!

“It’s not a movie theater.” that’s what. So naturally, we got the largest Coke you can get and enough straws to go around.

It was a grand time!

XOXO
