DIY Santa chocolate bar disguise wrap….shhhhh

“Chocolate…what chocolate?”

__________________________________________

This is one of my favorite crafts, because not only is it cute, but it also disguises those chocolate bars my brothers are always trying to find.

lol

All you need is some paper, and your chocolate can be safe from those Hershey snatchers too! :)

Let me show you…

What you need:

  • ONE SHEET OF EACH PAPER:
  • Red paper
  • White paper
  • Black paper
  • Gold or Yellow paper
  • This Pattern – Santa Bar Template
  • 2 black buttons
  • Glue
  • Tape

in case of emergency 002

Start by printing out the pattern and cutting them out of the correct colors. Get creative…use the pattern as a guide and let your scissors make the squiggles in the beard.

Just like you would wrap a present, cover the Hershey bar in red paper and tape. Card stock is going to be harder to wrap, so use a lighter stock of red paper if available.

Position the white “coat fluff” if you will, in the middle of the wrapped bar and glue in place.

Give me a second….

Okay I’m back. As I’m writing this and uploading the picture of the Hershey bar being wrapped, a Hershey snatcher realizes what is under the Santa disguise (from the picture) and takes off. I just ran about the house trying to save Santa!

.

It is all good now…he’s saved :)

.

Anyways, Take the black “belt” and wrap it around Santa’s waist and glue in place, just overlapping the white “coat fluff”.

Add his beard to the other end

Keep his pants on with the shiny yellow belt buckle

And lastly, his 2 buttons.

Just something “sweet” for Santa Clause

Santa always needs some cookies and milk. Oh yeah! And reindeer food too.

Here are some cute little cookies to make with your wee munchkins on Christmas Eve for Santa, or today for yourself!

They are SUPER easy….let me show you,

mimi's Thanksgiving and my blog 005

All you need for these cookies are:

For the cookies:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For decorating:

  • Red and brown m&ms
  • Black gel icing

Beat the butter until smooth and creamy. Add the sugar and beat until smooth. Add in the vanilla. Gently add in the flour.

Flatten the dough into a disk shape, (this will make it easier to roll out later) wrap in plastic wrap, and chill the dough for at least an hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface roll out the dough a 1/4 inch thick.  Cut into circles.  Place on the prepared baking sheets and place in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. (This is so the cookies will maintain their shape when baked)

Bake for 8 – 10 minutes, until cookies are very lightly browned. Cool and….

.

Trust me, these cookies are ridiculously easy to make and decorate. I have never decorated cookies “professionally” and I am quite proud of myself that these didn’t come out looking like some reality show called: “When Santa’s reindeer turn!” lol ;)

Pipe on that sugary black gel onto the cookies like the pics above. For the nose, goop on some icing below the eyes and stick an m&m right on-top! (We are still talking about the cookies, by the way, not you…but I’m sure you guessed that)

Make them extra special by only giving ONE cookie a red nose ;)

These cookies will make Santa SO happy!

Have Fun!

52 Weeks of Happy {Week 52}

Today is the very last day of 52 Weeks of Happy, but not the last day to be Happy!

__________________________________________________________

Though 52 weeks is coming to a close, my happiness is not dissipating (my big word of the day) with it, and neither should yours. :)

I know I haven’t been completely faithful with it, there have been a few weeks (well a lot of weeks) where I am just to busy with school to blog at all. This December, however, should pick up, and I have some fun DIY projects for y’all to try out for cute or cool gifts. Christmas on a budget seems to be trending lately. ;)

I do want to add that though I have not blogged all of the 52 weeks of Happy, I haven’t been sad. In fact, the opposite! This 52 week challenge has made me stop and think about what I am thankful for during the week even if I don’t tell y’all about it.

The little things…

Mattress surfing :)

Fall leaves….

A warm fire :)

Little things in life that make life enjoyable. Things you don’t realize make you smile.

It has been truly fun to do this!

So to conclude, be

HAPPY!

Life is such a gift and every small moment should be cherished.

And don’t worry, I’m not leaving :) I’m still here to blog about my crafts, but the 52 Weeks of Happy posts are over for now.

Thanks to everyone who left comments, and don’t hesitate to leave some now! “What are you happy for?” “What makes you smile?”

Tell me all about it on Twitter: @DIYCaroline or tag my shop page on Facebook with: @Sweet16inStitches

CHOW! :)

52 Weeks of Happy {Week 51}

Brrrrr….

“Baby it’s cold outside!”

florida sand edit

I’m writing this upstairs

Why?

Well it is warm up here in my big comfy chair. My feet propped up on the cushioned ottoman.

Another reason…it is cold downstairs. Our Heater broke unexpectedly for the downstairs, so it is kinda chilly all the way down there. It is warm up here however, and I am thankful for that!

I just keep looking at the pictures from Florida…Beaches….Heat….Hot….Sun….Happy Sigh…… :)

Next week is the last week of 52 Weeks of Happy. Cannot believe it has already been a year!

Thankful to be alive….aren’t you? Pretty awesome to just take a breath and realize each one is an incredible gift from God.

This is one of the first pictures I posted during week 1. Still fit in the shoes.

Almost Christmas! With thanksgiving day, brings Christmas trees, Christmas parties soon to come, and of course ksbj’s tradion of non stop Christmas music. Yee Haw! Christmas day here I come!!!

And don’t worry, I didn’t forget…Happy Early Thanksgiving! All of this talk of Happiness and Thankfulness makes me think of one of my favorite holidays. Christmas and Thanksgiving are my two FAVORITE holidays. Not only because I have been waiting all year to eat my grandpa’s stuffing, but because I love to be around family, friends, and experience life!

Happy Day Everyone!
