Sweet16inStitches — One Year Anniversary!

January 2, 2014 marks the one year anniversary of my etsy.com shop: Sweet16inStitches! I am so excited because, January 2nd is also my birthday! = )

I started this shop on my 16th birthday. I was super exited!

Because it was on my 16th birthday, we decided to title it: Sweet16inStitches. It was a name that fit perfectly!

Since then, I have sold a handful of orders {mostly custom} and have some more pending custom orders in the making!

Many people are stunned when they figure out that a 16 year old made the quilt they snuggle under at night.

Some are shocked when they discover that, yes, I made it all myself! = )

Some even want to know my secrets of success….

Well, this is the moment you have been waiting for:

**My secrets of success**

The only way to do great work, is to love what you do. ~Steve Jobs

Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it. ~Maya Angelou

The only place success comes before work, is in the dictionary. ~Vince Lombardi

There you have it! Those three quotes are my secrets to success: Love what you do, love how you go about it, and work hard to reach your goal.

Work has to be the biggest key word in these quotes. If I had just… dreamed up a shop name, designed the logo, and thought about what I should sell, do you think I would have gotten anywhere?

Of course not!

I had to work toward my goals, I had to make myself known, I had to strive.

I also think that Maya Angelou has a great point. You can’t do something enjoyably, if you do not even like doing it.

I love to sew! I love starting with a piece of fabric, and watching and experiencing it slowly form into a huge and bright colored quilt.

I love to see a pile of fabric and stuffing at one moment, and then a pile of cute little stuffed animals the next.

I even love to see tons of felt shapes turn into sleep masks, pretend masks, and mustaches, that people love to wear!

What can I say, I love what I do!

I have had TONS of people ask me:

     5.   Where are you located?

To your question, I answer: “The Lone Star State.” That’s right “Yee-Haw!” Good ol’ Texas.  I was born here, raised here, and set up shop here.  I do not have a physical shop, as some would like to know, but work out of my little ol’ Texas home.  That is where I ship stuff from.

See y’all cowpokes later!

“52 Weeks of Happy” {Week 5}

52 Weeks of Happy! Christmas 52 Weeks of Happy

So I’m a little late with this happy post. But that is okay, because Christmas was Wednesday! {Hip Hip Horray} and that was the main happy moment for me.

We decorated the house a little more, and had a Christmas party on Sunday.

I finished the quilts I was working on, and just in time for Christmas!

We ate a Christmas Eve dinner with my family.

And got some awesome goodies and hung out with my amazing blessed Family on Christmas Day.

I am really thankful for my immediate and extended family. Love you all! {Hugs and kisses}

Wishing all of YOU a safe a blessed rest of the year!
